Rothe: Evaluation of the efficacy of the effect of egg-oil in burns.- Result: The burn ointment with egg oil has reached the “golden standard.” The egg oil causes the wounds to heal three to four days faster than a comparative burn ointment as well as the non-proliferation of pathogenic bacteria. This study was published as a doctoral thesis.

Institute for Microcirculation, Berlin, Germany, Rainer Klopp, MD: Study on therapy-relevant effects of a test substance (egg oil) on outpatients with minor acute dermal inflammation based on functional characteristics of microcirculation, the performance of white blood cells and reflectometric characteristics in the target tissue in comparison with a control agent.

Result: The test substance has a functionally and metabolically based local efficacy resulting in an improvement in the function of the microcirculation and stimulation of immunologic reactions. This was reflected in the convincing results of the statistical analysis of the performance data.

Institute for Microcirculation, Berlin, Germany, Rainer Klopp, MD: Application test. Study of local prophylactic, protective and possible therapy-relevant effects of a test substance (egg oil) on the gingiva in comparison with a control agent on subjects with experimental gingivitis based on functional characteristics of microcirculation, the performance of white blood cells and reflectometric characteristics.

Summary: The test data can be evaluated as follows: Application of the test substance egg oil to subjects with experimental gingivitis resulted in considerable improvement in the functioning of gingival microcirculation and simultaneously stimulated the endogenous immune response so that a faster recovery of physiologic conditions was observed in the experimentally inflamed target tissue. The healing process in a control group which did not apply egg oil was delayed by several days. The observed time constants and data on the various characteristics indicate a good protective and prophylactic efficacy of egg oil in cases of periodontopathy. The changes in gingival microcirculation appear to make therapeutic application in the field of periodontology promising.

Institute for Microcirculation, Berlin, Germany, Rainer Klopp, MD: Egg oil supports microcirculation and the immune defense in case of inflammation.
New test results:
The skin and intestines belong to the immunologically most active organs. When these organs are inflamed the local range and functional condition of the microcirculation, i.e. the blood flow in the smallest blood vessels of the affected tissue, is very important for the healing process. For the principal immune defenders, the white blood cells, to fully develop their immunologic reaction, they must first be transported into the network of the smallest blood vessels and be evenly disbursed into the capillary bloodstream. If an optimal flow exists there, the first steps of an immunologic response can occur without interference: The white blood cells adhere to the micro-vessel wall and then pass through the wall and into the tissue. Following this, chemotactic localization occurs and then phagocytosis of a pathogenic organism, for example.

This correlation between the functional condition of the microcirculation and the immunologic defense options is not only essential in pathogenic processes, but also with regard to the protection and prophylaxis against various inflammatory processes in the skin and intestines. A number of medications are known today in clinical practice which can stimulate the aforementioned mechanisms, but may also cause undesirable side effects. Although the manufacturers of the myriad of skin care and similar products in most cases claim that their products possess a protective and prophylactic effect, one will fail to find valid proof of their efficacy. We are lacking effective products particularly for personal care and oral hygiene as well as self-medication in cases of minor inflammation of the skin and oral mucous membranes, which would improve the functional condition of the microcirculation and stimulate endogenous defense mechanisms in the sense of real protection and prevention without causing undesirable side effects to the user.
